Program Overview
ORNL provides up to $10,000 per calendar year in reimbursement for tuition and some approved fees for each successfully completed course in a qualified degree program related to the Lab’s mission.
Program Requirements
- Your immediate supervisor’s approval and support
- Twelve months of company service to ORNL as a regular full-time or regular
part-time employee - Minimum performance rating of “Successful” or “Building” for newer employees
- Retention period of twelve months after each reimbursement
- Approved school and approved degree program
Checklist for Prospective Students
- Review SBMS procedure and all links within
- Develop Individual Development Plan (IDP)
- Complete ORNL-1106 form
- Review both documents with supervisor and get appropriate signatures
- Email documents to ORNLEduAssist@ornl.gov
Coursework Expectations
Employees considered to have successfully completed an undergraduate course must obtain a grade of “C” or better, with expectations employee will maintain an overall GPA of “B” or better.
Employees considered to have successfully completed graduate coursework must obtain a grade of “B” or better, if evaluated on a standard letter-grading system. Failure to maintain an overall GPA of “B” or better on a consistent basis may result in denial of future educational assistance reimbursement.
If there is a choice between receiving a letter grade or a “Pass/Fail evaluation, employee must take the letter grade. Employees evaluated on “Pass/Fail” criteria must receive “Pass.”
